As I was researching what healthy boundaries are, what they are not, and how they shape our interactions, I came across this expression repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p id=\"b6fa\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">The way we speak about our experiences is a strong clue about how we perceive reality versus what is actually happening from a neutral, outside perspective. I thought this could be an insightful entry point into the topic, and I was surprised by what I discovered. I have held space for several trainings solely dedicated to boundaries, and this sentence \u2014 \u201cYou or they have crossed my boundaries!\u201d \u2014 kept surfacing. As a research group, we started to examine what is actually going on when a person is in this state and uses this exact expression.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9f02\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">What we found was the catalyst for writing a book about boundaries. This article is a part of this book in-the-making. It became clear to me that these distinctions and insights need to be shared, as widespread unawareness is causing countless misunderstandings and ongoing conflicts between people. I see the consequences of these inner and outer dynamics in my coaching practice with couples and individuals, during gameworld consulting with intentional communities and ecovillages, and even in my own community.<\/p>\n<p id=\"c007\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">To make these subtle yet impactful experiences tangible, I created a thought map called <strong class=\"ada ho\">\u201cDynamics of Survival Strategies.\u201d<\/strong> This map translates the invisible, energetic, and emotional survival dynamics into something perceptible.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ceab\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">By engaging with the distinctions I will share \u2014 and combining them with practice \u2014 you will train your energetic awareness and senses to perceive these dynamics as they unfold around you. Through repeated healing and distinguishing between actions driven by survival mode versus those rooted in the present moment, you will create space within your adult ego state. They may correspond to actual energy positions, but I am not clairvoyant \u2014 I encourage you to do your own research and describe what you perceive.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0dcd\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">When both individuals are in survival mode, they lose access to the feelings that could help them navigate the situation. They also lose conscious awareness of their other senses and the subtle energetic experience of their own body. The reason for this inability is that the navigation tools \u2014 such as fear, anger, joy, and sadness \u2014 require them to be present in their physical bodies. To use these feelings effectively, they must be in <strong class=\"ada ho\">First Position<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9637\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">First Position is the experience of being centered, being grounded and having declared your own space. Please check this website to learn more about this basic tool. <a class=\"bi ff\" href=\"https:\/\/firstposition.mystrikingly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\">https:\/\/firstposition.mystrikingly.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"5cd3\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">When a person enters survival mode, he\/she\/they slip out of <strong class=\"ada ho\">First Position<\/strong>, leaving behind their aliveness, relational skills, and navigation tools, and instead activating their autopilot.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"b4ca\" class=\"adu adv wz as jt adw adx ady od adz aea aeb oi adh aec aed aee adl aef aeg aeh adp aei aej aek ael cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"bn\">Two Main Survival Strategies<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p id=\"b219\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn aen adc add xp aeo adf adg adh aep adj adk adl aeq adn ado adp aer adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">In <a class=\"bi ff\" href=\"https:\/\/gremlin.mystrikingly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\"><em class=\"afa\">Possibility Management<\/em><\/a>, two basic survival strategies have been identified: <strong class=\"ada ho\">Type 1<\/strong> and <strong class=\"ada ho\">Type 2<\/strong>. Most people lean toward one strategy but may shift between them depending on the context. For example, someone might be Type 1 at work (dominant, ambitious) and Type 2 at home (submissive, eager to please).<\/p>\n<p id=\"c0e4\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Both types stem from numbness to the body and a disconnection from the authentic self. Survival strategies keep you hooked into external authority \u2014 whether a person, an institution, or societal expectations. Healing requires emotional integration. Without addressing the emotional roots, survival strategies will continue to operate in the background, keeping you stuck in the past rather than present in the <em class=\"afa\">here and now<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"99ff\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">The key is to keep crossing the line between survival and authenticity until you find balance. This is where real change begins \u2014 defining your boundaries and decisions based on reality, not old stories.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"f3c6\" class=\"adu adv wz as jt adw adx ady od adz aea aeb oi adh aec aed aee adl aef aeg aeh adp aei aej aek ael cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Type 1 Survival Strategy<\/h3>\n<p id=\"5511\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn aen adc add xp aeo adf adg adh aep adj adk adl aeq adn ado adp aer adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">A person operating with a <strong class=\"ada ho\">Type 1 survival strategy<\/strong> is often labeled as the one <strong class=\"ada ho\">crossing boundaries<\/strong> \u2014 the \u201cbad person,\u201d the one who is loud, provocative, or clumsy in their interactions. They may not understand why their behavior is problematic, insisting on their good intentions or justifying their actions.<\/p>\n<p id=\"eb63\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They tend to be the ones who <strong class=\"ada ho\">know exactly what they want<\/strong> \u2014 they go first, without questioning their strategy or checking in with their surroundings. They <strong class=\"ada ho\">fill the space<\/strong>, leaving no gaps for others. They are surprised when others would say: \u201d You are too fast, you take space and leave no room for me and others.\u201d They might say: \u201cBut this is who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"04dc\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"ada ho\">Type 1 survival mode<\/strong> comes with a <strong class=\"ada ho\">high numbness bar<\/strong> and <strong class=\"ada ho\">protection mechanisms<\/strong>. Years of suppressed emotions have created an emotional <strong class=\"ada ho\">cover-up blanket<\/strong>. You are not listening to what I have said! Meeting survival mode with <strong class=\"ada ho\">attack only creates an attack in return<\/strong>. It\u2019s that simple.<\/p>\n<p id=\"aca1\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">The <strong class=\"ada ho\">only leverage point<\/strong> you have is helping them <strong class=\"ada ho\">recognize where they are<\/strong>. But this <strong class=\"ada ho\">cannot be done<\/strong> from your own <strong class=\"ada ho\">survival state<\/strong>. Their inner structure is built on <strong class=\"ada ho\">self-reduction<\/strong> \u2014 standing behind their <strong class=\"ada ho\">healthy, centered adult self<\/strong> rather than fully embodying it.<\/p>\n<p id=\"c7ec\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They <strong class=\"ada ho\">hide behind their strengths<\/strong> instead of using them. They constantly find <strong class=\"ada ho\">reasons why stepping up for themselves is impossible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li id=\"6d90\" class=\"acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt aes aet aeu cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They seek <strong class=\"ada ho\">revenge<\/strong>, blaming others for crossing their boundaries.<\/li>\n<li id=\"fbe5\" class=\"acy acz wz ada b xn aev adc add xp aew adf adg adh aex adj adk adl aey adn ado adp aez adr ads adt aes aet aeu cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They have <strong class=\"ada ho\">assumptions<\/strong> that turn into <strong class=\"ada ho\">expectations<\/strong> \u2014 that others should notice them, even though they do everything possible to remain invisible and unclear.<\/li>\n<li id=\"64d5\" class=\"acy acz wz ada b xn aev adc add xp aew adf adg adh aex adj adk adl aey adn ado adp aez adr ads adt aes aet aeu cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They <strong class=\"ada ho\">give their center away<\/strong> \u2014 their <strong class=\"ada ho\">reference point<\/strong> for life is <strong class=\"ada ho\">outside themselves<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li id=\"c411\" class=\"acy acz wz ada b xn aev adc add xp aew adf adg adh aex adj adk adl aey adn ado adp aez adr ads adt aes aet aeu cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They <strong class=\"ada ho\">erase themselves<\/strong> from life to such a degree that they become <strong class=\"ada ho\">invisible<\/strong> to others.<\/li>\n<li id=\"29ef\" class=\"acy acz wz ada b xn aev adc add xp aew adf adg adh aex adj adk adl aey adn ado adp aez adr ads adt aes aet aeu cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They are <strong class=\"ada ho\">the last<\/strong> to choose, waiting until everyone else has made a decision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"ec3e\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Type 2 individuals are the ones <strong class=\"ada ho\">waiting<\/strong> \u2014 waiting to be <strong class=\"ada ho\">seen, heard, and acknowledged<\/strong>. They gather <strong class=\"ada ho\">information without speaking up<\/strong>. They use their energetic and emotional bodies to collect data from their surroundings. They use extensions like energetic tentacles, with which they get information before even others might catch it. Like a vacuum cleaner is sucking all the dust and dirt, the tentacles are sucking in endless information. This <strong class=\"ada ho\">flood of information<\/strong> often leads to <strong class=\"ada ho\">overstimulation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"b684\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Type 2 individuals have <strong class=\"ada ho\">no real boundaries<\/strong> \u2014 they let <strong class=\"ada ho\">everything<\/strong> into their system. <strong class=\"ada ho\">That\u2019s why people \u201ccross their boundaries.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"7611\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"ada ho\">The truth is: there are no boundaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ab5c\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">They don\u2019t realize that they have <strong class=\"ada ho\">opened their system so wide<\/strong> that the <strong class=\"ada ho\">stream of information<\/strong> becomes <strong class=\"ada ho\">toxic<\/strong> rather than useful. It helped to survive as a child, and as an adult there are other ways of getting information by asking and negotiating instead of sucking up all information they can get.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7809\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Totally forgotten about their survival strategy and in built technologies, they may believe that life is an <strong class=\"ada ho\">overwhelming flood<\/strong> of <strong class=\"ada ho\">verbal, energetic, and emotional data<\/strong> for <strong class=\"ada ho\">everyone<\/strong>, and therefore assume that others <strong class=\"ada ho\">should<\/strong> be able to perceive everything as well. They probably label themselves as \u201chyper sensitive\u201d. Which they are as a result but not because of a healthy embodiment of natural boundaries but a lack of boundaries, confused by survival strategies.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7bc8\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">If you have developed the Type 2 strategy you might get triggered by the above statement. I understand. It was a bitter pill I had to swallow too.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6428\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Assuming that a person with Type 1 would be on the same page is like thinking a deaf person could hear music through their ears. They will perceive the music, but totally differently than you think they do.<\/p>\n<p id=\"d5b0\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph acy acz wz ada b xn adb adc add xp ade adf adg adh adi adj adk adl adm adn ado adp adq adr ads adt mr cn\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"ada ho\">A person operating in Type 1 survival strategy is not connected to their surroundings<\/strong> \u2014 they are covered in <strong class=\"ada ho\">numbness and protection mechanisms<\/strong>.
